Healthy + Easy Acai Bowl Recipe

If you follow me on Instagram or Snapchat, you’ll notice that I am a huge fan of acai bowls. Living with a chronic illness means living with a lot less energy to go around, so I am always on the lookout for good tasting, easy recipes that don’t require a lot of energy or extra cleanup. On top of being super easy to make, acai bowls are packed with tons of essential vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that are necessary in all diets.

The acai berry is packed full of antioxidants that help reduce free radicals in your body. “Okay Aly, shut up. That was just a sentence full of buzzwords.” But hear me out! Free radicals accumulate in the body from stress, disease, environmental and lifestyle factors, age, and more. Antioxidants work by reducing oxidative stress by neutralizing the free radicals. Your body actually produces antioxidants on its own, but adding foods that are high in antioxidants to your diet can do things like boost immune function, reduce chronic pain, and more! WHAT YOU’LL NEED

Ingredients:

-1 Sambazon Unsweetened Acai Pack
-1 frozen banana
-1/4 of a cup unsweetened almond milk

Toppings:

-Strawberries
-1 mandarin
-Almonds
-Gluten free granola
-Chia seeds

HOW-TO

  1. Add the acai pack, frozen banana, and almond milk to a blender. I use an older Ninja Professional model that is pretty close to the NJ600. The consistency should be like a milkshake or very thick smoothie.
  2. Pour or scoop the mixture into a bowl and decorate with the strawberries, mandarin, almonds, granola, and chia seeds however you prefer! You can add any other toppings that you want like goji berries, hemp seeds, bee pollen, coconut flakes, honey, and more! Acai bowls are versatile to any flavor palate.
